Definition of Acne

A skin condition that occurs when hair follicles plug with oil and dead skin cells. All skin diseases, including acne, are the outcome of malfunctioning of the body as a whole.

Symptoms of Acne

Acne is characterized by the presence of blackheads, pimples, small superficial sebaceous cysts and scars.

There are multiple forms of acne. These acne’s are concerned with sebaceous glands or the glands connected with hair follicles. The most common form of acne is blackheads. The areas chiefly affected are the forehead, temples, cheeks, chin, chest and back.

Causes of Acne

All types of acne grow due to wrong habits, such as irregular hours of eating, unhealthy food habits, excessive use of oil, butter, margarine, salt & sugar, excess use of fatty foods. Another important cause of acne is a unhygienic condition of the skin resulting from dust, pollution, wrong cosmetics and dehydration. Some Acne also results due to poor standard of living. Excessive use of tea, coffee, alcohol or tobacco, stress, depression.

Treatment of Acne

  1. Water: is the only primary source of treatment to heal acne. Any type of acne results in healing due to proper intake of water and keeping self-hydrated all the times.  Lemon water or plain water or honey water are beneficial in preventing acne.
  2. Fruit diet: Regular intake of all fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, pineapple and peaches. After a week of all fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet.
  3. Whole Grain Cereal: One should be on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts and whole grain cereals, millets and brown rice.
  4. Say “No” to these foods: Starchy & Fried Foods, Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined processed foods, soft drinks, candies, ice cream and products made with sugar & white flour should be strictly avoided.
  5. Home Made Face packs: Grated cucumber, mashed banana in milk, cream & carrots, rose petal with raw milk can be used as a home-made mask which have been found genuinely effective. Face-Mask made from a mixture of chickpeas flour & rose water applied for 20 minutes per week keeps skin fresh, healthy and glowing.
  6. The orange peel: Few peels of fresh oranges can be grinded well with water if applied to the affected areas can also help to clean acne. The lemon has also proved beneficial in removing pimples and acne.
  7. Epsom Salt: Hot Epsom-salt bath twice a week will be highly beneficial in all cases of acne.
  8. Regular hot water bath: Regular hot water bath for minimum 20minutes cleanses all toxic elements from your body keeping it fresh and clean.
